Elbow

The voice of an angel,
He sings to me.
Chills barely make it to my heart before I sigh,
Closing my eyes to make it last longer.

The hollowed wood brings the sea to my eyes...
I'm floating off to the horizon on that wave

There, I’m presented to the sun king.
He asks, “What took you so long?”
I reply that I’ve waited for this exact moment.

I fully surrender to all his power,
Both strong and soft.
You feel life-like,
When you’re breathing in and out.

Sleeping in Love

Passion fruit,
ruby red lips dripping dew,
glistening,
dropping to the floor...
so swollen and full from the remembrance of a love lost,
but now found for one afternoon...

Upon contact with the floor, the drops burst,
exploding in slow motion...
to bottle and save it would rob it of its existence,
its purpose in the Universe...

The breeze takes my mane into your hands,
slithering through each finger,
while white veils are what separate us from the sea...

Your palms move forward,
cradling my flushed cheeks,
my body shudders at this touch...
skin standing at attention.

Lift and place me on the clouds,
like how I was born,
yet, now I'm a woman,
ready for you to see my flawless imperfections...

See me like this while you sleep,
this is all we have left.

Mistery

I sit,
waiting for these metal vessels to take me to another land.
A land in which another life was lived,
where sorrows shaped a soul.

The chill that courses through this body freezes more than just my limbs,
for my heart remembers, while longing to forget.
Yet, I know it is all part of the lesson.

Pranayama guides me through,
meditation masks the material.
There I am left with a truth.

So, I travel back East,
with my mind in the West.
Are there islands waiting for me there?

A Chill

This thumb on your lip,
to remember for eternity...
I remember and try to forget.
Why can't I be free to love you?

The forest in your eyes,
like magnets to mine of sea...
In those split seconds and minutes,
everything is bliss.

RIP John Lennon

31 years ago, one of the most articulate and truthful poets of the 20th Century left his body, some say, too soon.  John's soul chose to leave at that time for a reason...there are bigger plans than what we see in our physical body.  While I wish he were still here to love and create with us, his words and message live on in all of us.

Here are some of my favorite quotes of his:

"Because my role in society, or any artists's or poet's role, is to try and express what we all feel.  Not to tell people how to feel.  Not as a preacher, not as a leader, but as a reflection of us all.  And it's like that's the job of the artist in society. Artists must reflect what we all are. That's what it's about, art, or poets, or whatever you want to call it, and that's what I'm trying to express."

"A dream you dream alone is only a dream.  A dream you dream together is reality."

"If someone thinks that love and peace is a cliche that must have been left behind in the Sixties, that's his problem.  Love and peace are eternal."

and of course...Imagine...

Imagine there's no heaven, it's easy if you try
No hell below us, above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today

Imagine there's no countries, it isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
and no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you will join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
 I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger a brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

Peace and love friends!

Circling The Center

There's a saddness in my soul,
The labyrinth of life led me to the core.

A well full of karma collected over lifetimes.

Circling the center, I go for a swim.
Water rises as tears fall.

Another inch closer to not drowning.

Grown Up

The bigs kids,
We thought them older and wiser,
Like they knew something we didn't...

And now I feel the same way,
Wondering what sage advice the years will bring me...

A shrug reminds me that 'now' is all I really have,
And tomorrow is just another canvas.

The Dark Matter

incarnated for a higher purpose.

slowly moving there.

cyclical days and nights.

weeks and weekends.

where is the light?

guide me with your staff.

your loyal lion.

play your sitar.

upon the mountain i breathe deeply.

with your invisible hand, push me along.

carry me through the wind.

levitate to freedom.

i chose now for a reason.

A reminder...

I stumbled upon this beautiful poem by Kabir (1440-1518) recently and have fallen in love.  He was a mystic poet and saint of India who revealed the divine through direct experience.

A Place To Sit
Don't go outside your house to see flowers.
My friend, don't bother with that excursion.
Inside your body there are flowers.
One flower has a thousand petals.
That will do for a place to sit.
Sitting there you will have a glimpse of beauty
inside the body and out of it,
before gardens and after gardens.

translated by Robert Bly

Reading this is a reminder to look within for beauty, for answers, for truth.  Self-reflection and listening to our intuition is something that has become less and less in this society.  We react to the stimulus around us before even stopping to see if it is coming from a place of love and truth.  Let us all try to be more mindful of ourselves and how we live in this world.~LA
